With its 0.47 hectare enclosure, the smallest winery in the smallest appellation in Bordeaux welcomes you to the heart of the Fronsac and Canon Fronsac vineyards. Its rolling landscapes, its millennia-old history, its romanesque churches, its architectural diversity and its remarkable viewpoints make it one of the most incredible vineyards in Bordeaux that will undoubtedly delight hiking enthusiasts and cyclists. You will definitely fall under the spell of one of the most beautiful wine area in Bordeaux - not to mention the world !

 

This 18th century master's house, traditionally called Girondine, attached to a 17th century border house, is a true testimony to the wine-growing architecture of this period.

 

Punctuated by the work in the vineyards, come and discover during your stay a brief overview of life in a Bordeaux vineyard in the 21st century.

ON THE ROUTE OF THE GREAT WINES OF THE RIGHT BANK

La Closerie de Fronsac is the perfect starting point for one of the most prestigious wine routes in the world, that of "the great and historic vineyards of the Right Bank of Bordeaux" forming the first ring around the medieval bastide of Libourne – Fronsac – Pomerol – Saint Émilion.

From La Closerie de Fronsac, you will enjoy strolling through the heart of the Fronsac wine area, along the Saint-Aignan loop, its castles and its Romanesque church or along the Saint-Michel-de-Fronsac ridge with its admirable viewpoints where the Fronsadais hillsides plunge into the Dordogne river. You will not be able to resist visiting the incredible underground cellars of Château de La Rivière, one of the jewels of our appellation and of the Right Bank.

You will undoubtedly pass through Pomerol (7km), whose name alone evokes the most prestigious wines in the world. This small appellation, which produces some of the finest wines, has acquired a worldwide reputation that has made this terroir one of the most sought-after today. Its neo-Gothic church with its long spire marks the centre of this appellation, where names such as Lafleur, Clinet, Pétrus, Le Pin, etc., rub shoulders.

You will pass through the unmissable Saint-Émilion vineyard (10km), the first vineyard to be classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 for its landscapes shaped by the hand of man. Its village (13km), the most beautiful of Bordeaux vineyard, its monolithic church unique in Europe, its Grands Crus Cassés or its new cellars built by the most renowned architects.

IN THE HEART OF THE BORDEAUX VINEYARDS

The central position of La Closerie de Fronsac in the Bordeaux vineyard also makes it an excellent starting point for visiting the Bordeaux vineyard in their entirety.

 

To the north , the Bourg region (28km), its military citadel from the time of Louis XIII, the Pair-non-Pair cave with its prehistoric engravings, its famous Gironde estuary road , Blaye (40km) with its Le Vauban military fortress listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, the Gallo-Roman villa of Plassac, not forgetting its vineyards.

 

To the West, its sumptuous capital, Bordeaux (25km), with its UNESCO-listed quays typical of 18th century architecture, its Grand Théâtre, its historic centre, its cathedral, its Cité du Vin, its restaurants, etc.

 

To the South, the medieval fortified towns of Rions (42km), Cadillac (44km) or Saint-Macaire (53km) as well as the sweet vineyards of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont (51km) or Sauternes (60km) and its Grands Crus Classés.

 

On the coast, Arcachon – a 19th century seaside resort, its basin , the Pilat dune – the highest in Europe, its oysters and its Cap-Ferret peninsula.
